Tour de France

14th-21st July 2019

Holiday Overview

The Tour de France is the ideal opportunity to combine an alpine cycling holiday with a bucket list item and watch the world’s elite riders take part in the iconic Tour de France.

Based in the heart of the Savoie and Haute Savoie region, your TAG Ride holiday gives you the opportunity to take part in daily rides and explore some of the most famous cols in the area.  All rides are paced to ensure everyone works within their capabilities and goals.

We combine these daily rides with the opportunity to join the Tour as a spectator; soak up the atmosphere, watch the famous caravan pass through and cheer the riders on!

The Race & The Route

The 2019 staging of the iconic Tour de France will depart Bruxelles on 6th July 2019.

Join us in the stunning Savoie from Sunday 21st July to witness the spectacle of stage 18, 19 and 20, and to follow in the footsteps of your TDF heroes as your pit your wits against some of Europes toughest (and most scenic) cols.

Stage 18 - Thursday 25th July - Embrun to Valloire
An incredible stage with huge Cols! Col d’Izoard, Col de Vars and then up the Col du Lautaret and on to the Col du Galibier with a peak of 2646 metres and the descent in to Valloire to finish.

Stage 19 – Friday 26th July - St Jean de Maurienne to Tignes
Starting from St Jean and heading along the valley climbing all the time to the village of Bonneval. The up the Col de L’iseran to a height of 2764 metres. Descending down the other side and up to the village of Tignes to finish.

Stage 20 Saturday 27th July - Albertville to Val Thorens
Starting from Albertville and then entering the Beaufortain Valley and along to Beaufort and up the Cormet de Roselend, a tough climb! Then down to Bourg and up the Notre dame du Pre climb and descending the many switchbacks to the main road and along to Moutiers and then the climb all the way to the top of Val Thorens at 2300 metres. Moutiers sits at just under 500 metres above sea level. So the final climb to Val Thorens will be a staggering 1800 metres.
