A fantastic route that favours kilometres in distance over metres in altitude. It takes us through the Bauges mountains and over the still, respectable Col de Tamie, whilst offering magnificent views of Lake Annecy.
Leaving La Tania via the small climb towards the Meribel Valley, we descend all the way to the spa town of Brides-les-Bains and into Moutiers. From here, we follow the back road to Albertville, passing through the town and dropping to an altitude of just over 300m, before moving on to climb the Col de Tamie.
A climb of just over 10km and to a height of 907m that leads us to a flowing descent towards Faverges. On the way down, make sure to look up to enjoy the vista to Lake Annecy below. This Col has been used in the TDF 5 times over the last 20 years.
Faverges offers up one of several places to stop for lunch, before heading homeward on the cycle path to Ugine and on to Albertville. From Albertville, we take a similar route back to Moutiers.
