Female Riders Week

9th-16th June 2019

Holiday Overview
Our women's road cycling week is a 7-night guided and catered holiday in one of the most popular cycling areas of the French Alps. Our airport transfer (included in the price of your holiday) will pick you up from Geneva airport and bring you straight to your chalet accommodation. Relax, unwind, unpack and enjoy a three-course evening meal with complimentary bottled wine. After a good night’s sleep, you’ll be refreshed and raring to go. Enjoy a hearty breakfast and then head off with our cycling guide and vehicle support to explore some of the iconic rides of the area. Return to a welcome afternoon tea with fresh cake or pasta to refuel and then relax and enjoy the care of your hosts over dinner.
Sunday 10th JuneArrive Geneva airport to meet transfer to your chalet accommodation in Morzine. Welcome, introduction to the team, overview of the week, bike familiarisation and three course evening meal with wine.
Monday 11th JuneWake up to a hearty breakfast prepared by your chalet team and begin your preparations for the first day’s riding. A morning’s riding, taking in the local scenery on one of the area’s much-loved routes with a warm-up ride; the Grimpee d’Avoriaz. After a much a rest stop for a spot of lunch, it’s time to tackle down to Tanninges to tackle the Encrenaz climb back to Morzine – a joy for lovers of nature and quiet roads! Your afternoon’s ride will take you back to your accommodation, where you will be met by welcome afternoon refreshments. Before sitting down to your three-course dinner in the evening (the first of 6!) there will be ample time for rest and relaxation!
Tuesday 12th JuneWell warmed up and ready to go after yet another good breakfast, day 2 is a good day to tackle the Circuit de la Ramaz. This col is one of Haute Savoie’s prettiest, and the view of Mont Blanc are unbeatable. The col was made famous by the famous breakaway sprint by Richard Virenque in the 2003 Tour de France (which secured him the yellow jersey and won him the Morzine stage too!). It remains a classic that every enthusiast should add to their must-do list.
Wednesday 13th JuneA free day in Morzine for a self-guided ride, or some rest and relaxation, or perhaps the chance to try out one of the other local activities on off. Morzine is home to a fantastic 50m indoor swimming pool, complete with spa area containing sauna, steam and jacuzzis.
Thursday 14th JuneBack on the bike and it’s time to try out a new circuit such as the Vallee Verte or the Vallee d’Arve. Both are scenic routes with a few challenges thrown in along the way!
Friday 15th JuneIt wouldn’t be a trip to Morzine without the opportunity to try out the famous Tour climb, Col de Joux Plane. The Joux Plane pass, tackled many times by Tour de France competitors, is one of the most difficult Alpine climbs in spite of its moderate distance. The start is very hard, then the climb is always difficult with a maximum average of 13%, at “La Combe Emeru” hamlet. Magnificent panoramas on Mont Blanc will be your reward!
Saturday 16th JuneOn your final day, why not head towards Megeve for the circuit d’Aravis. The Aravis climbs are well known by Tour de France racers. There are lots of stopping-off points the length of this route which is pretty but tough. For the most athletic riders only!
*Itineraries are indicative – actual routes and rides are subject to change depending on local weather and road conditions.
